Manotick Shooting Today — One Man Dead, Investigation Underway

According to the Ottawa Police Service, officers responded to reports of shots fired near the intersection of Bankfield Road and Prince of Wales Drive on Wednesday afternoon. Emergency crews arrived shortly after 4:30 p.m., where they found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims later died from his injuries, while the other was transported to a hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have since taken two suspects into custody, and the area remains cordoned off as investigators process the scene, collect evidence, and conduct interviews. Authorities have called this the city’s third homicide of 2026, emphasizing that there is currently no indication of an ongoing threat to public safety.

Road closures remain in effect on Bankfield Road between Prince of Wales Drive and First Line Road as officers continue their work, and residents are being urged to avoid the area and expect significant traffic delays.

Ottawa police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the homicide unit or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
